Eze Village

To discover the hinterland of Monaco, from Monte Carlo, simply take the Moyenne Corniche at the level of the Exotic Garden, ten minutes later, Eze-Village appears, perched on a rocky peak of 427m. From the top of its old village, Eze slopes down to the sea at Eze sur Mer, spanning the three corniches. As you climb towards the old village, you can glimpse on the left the path of Frédéric Nietzsche, which descends towards the seaside through pine and olive trees. You will stroll through narrow and steep streets covered with vaults in places. Every corner offers a radiant view of the sea or the mountains. Arriving on the terrace of the old fortress, you will discover a spectacular panorama.

Perched village of Coaraze

Coaraze is a village located 30 minutes from Nice, in the heights. It is one of the small perched villages of the hinterland of Nice. It is three times labeled. First, it is classified among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France” … and that’s something. Then, it is classified “Oc per l’occitan” for its contribution to Occitan culture and finally, it is labeled “Villages in Poetry” for the permanence of its connection with poets and poetry.

But above all, this village has a small specificity, which is worth the detour: it has sundials hung everywhere in its streets and squares.

Perched village of Sainte-Agnès

Given its location, on the mountainside, Sainte-Agnès claims to be the highest coastal village in Europe, at almost eight hundred meters above sea level. It must be said that it is classified among the “Most Beautiful Villages of France”, just like Gourdon or Coaraze. Sainte-Agnès offers authentic charm with its vaulted passages and its beautiful houses from the 15th and 18th centuries. On the rocky peak above the village, only remains of the castle built in the 12th century are left. The panorama over the bay of Menton and the Italian border is magnificent.
